Altmar-Parish-Williamstown CSD Receives LEED Certification
Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District was recently awarded LEED Certification for their elementary school and LEED Silver Certification for the middle/high school through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Appel Osborne completed a Capital Improvement Project with the district in 2012 which involved building reconfigurations. Three elementary schools were closed and relocated to the main campus, the former middle school was reconfigured to one district elementary school, and the existing high school was reconfigured to a middle/high school. AOLA’s responsibility as a design team member involved site strategies within Sustainable Sites and Water Efficiency rating point categories. The project maximized the biodiversity of open space by minimizing the developed footprint, incorporated storm water management quantity and quality design controls, and installed landscaping that did not require permanent irrigation systems. Congratulations to the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District on this exciting achievement!
