Official Elephant Grand Opening at Rosamond Gifford Zoo

Today is an exciting day for the Rosamond Gifford Zoo!  After breaking ground in December of 2015, the new elephant pool was officially opened to both the elephants and the public.  The Zoo explains that the best habitats for elephants offer a variety of environmental stimuli including land and water.  The pool is designed to accommodate elephants of all ages and preferences, and a viewing deck has been constructed to observe the elephants enjoying the pool.  Project management and design for this project was coordinated by Appel Osborne Landscape Architecture.  The pool contains a life support system that was designed by Satchell Engineering & Associates.  The project team also included GLMV Architecture, who provided initial design for the elephant pool, and McGinnis Nelson, who constructed the pool.  Congratulations to the zoo on this accomplishment for their elephants.
